Alphanumeric is hiring a Laboratory Automation & Workflow Integration Scientist to work in Upper Providence, Collegeville, PA.

Pay Range: $55 - $62.

Position Summary:
We are seeking a Scientific Automation & Workflow Integration Scientist to support the implementation and operationalization of automated analytical and purification workflows within an AI-enabled predictive synthesis environment supporting next-generation drug discovery. 

You will work at the intersection of Analytical Chemistry, Predictive Synthesis, Automation, Informatics, Engineering, and Discovery Chemistry to help integrate new laboratory technologies, onboard analytical and purification equipment, support automated workcell deployment, and enable scalable, data-driven scientific workflows. 

The successful candidate will serve as a key liaison between scientific stakeholders, automation teams, and equipment vendors to ensure successful implementation, startup, and optimization of next-generation automated laboratory capabilities.

What You'll be Doing:
  • Support implementation and operationalization of AI-enabled predictive synthesis workflows that integrate laboratory automation, high-throughput experimentation (HTE), analytical instrumentation, and scientific data workflows to accelerate drug discovery. 
  • Assist with onboarding, integration, and startup of analytical and purification instrumentation. 
  • Support workflow mapping and automation integration activities across laboratory systems. 
  • Coordinate with equipment vendors, including analytical, purification, and automation platform providers. 
  • Partner with scientists, engineers, and automation specialists to translate laboratory requirements into scalable automated workflows. 
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) activities. 
  • Support instrumentation readiness assessments, commissioning activities, and operational startup efforts. 
  • Assist with implementation of high-throughput experimentation (HTE) workflows and automated laboratory processes. 
  • Facilitate alignment between workflow requirements, instrumentation capabilities, and data outputs. 
  • Support troubleshooting, workflow optimization, and operational stabilization activities. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Analytical Chemistry, Predictive Synthesis, Informatics, Engineering, Discovery Chemistry, and external vendors. 
  • Support future-state workflow development, scalability planning, and continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Operate effectively within a highly matrixed scientific and technical environment 

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Automation, or related scientific discipline. 
  • 3-5+ years of experience within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, chemical, or laboratory automation environments. 
  • Experience supporting laboratory automation, scientific workflow implementation, or analytical instrumentation integration. 
  • Familiarity with analytical and/or purification technologies used in laboratory environments. 
  • Experience working with equipment vendors and cross-functional technical teams. 
  • Effective communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills. 
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating activities across multiple teams and disciplines. 

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Automation, or a related scientific discipline. 
  • Experience supporting automated laboratory workcells or high-throughput experimentation (HTE) environments. 
  • Experience with analytical and purification platforms from vendors such as Waters, Agilent, or similar providers. 
  • Exposure to laboratory automation technologies and scientific data workflows. 
  • Experience participating in FAT/SAT, commissioning, startup, or equipment onboarding activities. 
  • Understanding of predictive synthesis, automated experimentation, or AI-enabled scientific workflows. 
  • Experience supporting technology implementation within pharmaceutical R&D or Discovery Sciences organizations. 
  • Familiarity with scientific informatics, laboratory data systems, or workflow integration initiatives.
