About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to support a leading global biopharmaceutical organization, in designing, developing, and delivering reliable, scalable, secure, and high-performing software applications.

This fully remote opportunity is ideal for a hands-on software engineer with extensive cloud development experience who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, architecting innovative solutions, and collaborating with talented engineering teams.

The successful candidate will be comfortable taking loosely defined business or technical requirements, translating them into well-architected solutions, and delivering high-quality software from design through implementation.

You will join a collaborative engineering environment that values curiosity, innovation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement. The team encourages collaborative problem-solving and pair programming while also recognizing the importance of independent, focused development work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and implement scalable, secure, and maintainable software applications.
  • Translate complex or loosely defined business and technical requirements into practical, well-architected software solutions.
  • Develop and deploy cloud-based applications using Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Microsoft Azure, with a strong preference for GCP.
  • Lead technical design discussions and contribute to software architecture and system design decisions.
  • Champion software engineering best practices, including clean code, application security, performance optimization, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, product teams, and internal/external stakeholders to deliver innovative technical solutions.
  • Support cloud infrastructure automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) initiatives using tools such as Terraform.
  • Participate in Agile development activities, including sprint planning, code reviews, technical discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical challenges, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
  • Promote collaborative engineering practices, including pair programming, peer reviews, and knowledge sharing.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to software development processes, tools, and architecture.
  • Ensure software solutions align with organizational security, reliability, and scalability standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline. Master's degree or PhD preferred. Equivalent relevant professional experience may be considered.
  • 8–10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including substantial hands-on experience developing cloud-based applications.
  • Strong experience with at least one major cloud platform:
    • Google Cloud Platform (GCP) – strongly preferred
    • Amazon Web Services (AWS)
    • Microsoft Azure
  • Demonstrated hands-on software development experience is essential. Candidates must have experience designing, writing, testing, and deploying production-level application code.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, and scalable application development.
  • Experience developing reliable, secure, and high-performing applications in cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native development principles and modern software engineering practices.
  • Experience working within an Agile software development environment.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with distributed engineering teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure, provisioning, configuration management, or automation.
  • Familiarity with or hands-on development experience using the Rust programming language.
  • Experience with modern DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud automation.
  • Experience working in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, healthcare, or other regulated industries.
  • Experience contributing to technical architecture decisions and mentoring or collaborating with other software engineers.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is a seasoned, hands-on software engineer who combines strong application development expertise with practical cloud engineering experience.
We are particularly interested in candidates who:
  • Have a proven track record of building and deploying production-level applications in cloud environments.
  • Bring significant experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or comparable AWS/Azure environments.
  • Can independently architect and implement solutions from high-level requirements.
  • Understand the importance of application security, scalability, reliability, and code quality.
  • Enjoy collaborating with other engineers and contributing to a positive, team-oriented environment.
  • Are comfortable working in an Agile environment with evolving business and technical requirements.
  • Take ownership of technical challenges and proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
Please Note: This is a hands-on Software Engineering position, not an infrastructure-only, cloud administration, DevOps-only, or IT support role. Candidates must possess substantial professional software development experience.
